Lawn Care Services in Chicago, IL
From the first mow in April to the last leaf cleanup in November, here is how we keep a Chicago lawn healthy and tidy through the whole season.
What lawn care covers, and why Chicago lawns need a plan
Lawn care is the full cycle of work that keeps turf thick and a yard presentable: regular mowing and trimming, feeding and weed management, the fall work that repairs summer damage, and the spring and autumn cleanups at either end of the season. We group those jobs here because they work together. A lawn that is mowed well but never fed thins out, and a lawn that is fed but buried under wet leaves in November does not make it to spring.
Chicago sits in the cool-season grass belt. Kentucky bluegrass, fescues and perennial ryegrass grow hardest in spring and early fall, slow down in the July heat and go dormant under winter snow. That rhythm decides the calendar: a first cut in April, weekly visits through the growth flush, a lighter summer schedule, and the work that matters most (aeration, overseeding and a good feeding) in September.
City lots add their own rules. Many Chicago properties are only about 25 feet wide, with a short front lawn, a parkway strip between the sidewalk and the curb, and a backyard reached through a gate or the alley. Small does not mean easy: tight spaces mean careful trimming and no room for sloppy edges.

When the same crew mows, cleans up and treats the lawn, nobody is guessing what happened last month. We know how the front strip dries out in July and where the backyard holds water after a storm, and we adjust the work to match.

Lawn Care Services FAQ
When does lawn care season start in Chicago?
Most Chicago lawns get their first mow in mid-to-late April, once the grass is actively growing, and regular visits continue through October. Cleanups bookend the season: spring cleanup before the first cut and leaf cleanup in the fall.
Do I need every service, or can I pick just one?
You can pick one. Many customers start with weekly mowing and add aeration and overseeding or a cleanup later. Tell us what you need on the quote request and we will price just that.
How often should a Chicago lawn be mowed?
During the spring and fall growth flush, about once a week. In the hottest weeks of July and August, cool-season grass slows down and the schedule can stretch. We set the rhythm based on how fast your lawn is actually growing.
Can you work around the parkway and alley side of my property?
Yes. Chicago yards usually include a parkway strip and an alley or side-gate approach to the backyard. We plan the visit around those access points and trim both sides of the sidewalk.
